Worlds 2024 Bid Process

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first ever Roundnet World Championships! While the weather didn't always cooperate, we couldn't have imagined a better first World Championship.

It was amazing to see the atmosphere, competition, and camaraderie on display. We have a community like no other! Congratulations to all of the winners and everyone who participated, organized, volunteered, or cheered! Special shoutout to Roundnet Belgium for their amazing job hosting.

The World Championships will be held every two years, using the off years to foster greater competition within continental regions. So the next World Championships will take place in 2024.

A crucial part of having a great World Championship is partnering with a dedicated, capable, and organized host country. Therefore, in the process of selecting a location for the 2024 Roundnet World Championships, we want to start by identifying which countries are interested in hosting and learning more about their qualifications and vision. A form with application questions has been sent to NGBs.

Separately, the IRF will work to create a bid process for venues interested in hosting. This step can happen in collaboration with interested NGBs. From there, the IRF will evaluate the host application alongside the venue options to determine the best fit for the next championship.

The IRF's goal for the 2024 Championships is still to prioritize inclusion and bring together as many countries as possible. For that reason, we are limiting our search for 2024 hosts to Europe. We are also still focused on creating an Olympic village feel, so we are looking for venue options that allow players to live, eat, and hangout together. Ideally, once players arrive on site everything is turnkey from there.

Our hopes are to select a location by early 2023.
