Advancing roundnet worldwide.

The vision

2019’s announcement of the first world championships energized the roundnet community. It was an inspiration to band together, get organized, and train in the hopes of representing your country on the world’s stage. With it came exciting possibilities and hopeful wonderings - how far can this sport go?

Roundnet has incredible potential. However, its lack of a unified international organization presents a limit to its growth. That’s where the International Roundnet Federation comes in. The IRF is a non-profit, international governing body for the sport of roundnet. Created in the Olympic Model, the IRF seeks to amplify the impact of roundnet communities across the world by providing the infrastructure for the sport to flourish at an international level. The IRF’s purposes include:

  • Establishing uniform rules and setting standards for international competition

  • Sanctioning World Championships and other international events

  • Promoting the development of national governing bodies

In doing this, we seek to encourage the proliferation of roundnet amongst people of all background and athletic abilities. We strive to maintain the the sportsmanship and spirit that has come to define the roundnet community.

How far can we go? The sky’s the limit.

The board

One of IRF’s goals is to promote and strengthen National Governing Bodies. As such, the IRF will be made up of independent National Governing Bodies representing the diverse interests of international competition. The IRF board consists of 5 members who have a long track record of advancing the sport of roundnet:

Fre Eskens, Belgium

Fre organized and won the first Belgian National Championship in 2018. He was one of the founding members of Roundnet Belgium to represent the sport on a national level and bring together and support people from all over the country. As part of Roundnet Belgium, he’s been able to be a co-founder of the European Spikeball Roundnet Association, organizer of the first EUSRA Grand Slam, and operational leader of the first World Championship. Fre studied software development and works as a software consultant at Axxes, an Antwerp based consultancy firm. Additionally, he does contract work for Spikeball Inc. helping get roundnet into PE programs throughout Europe. In his spare time he plays volleyball on a competitive level.

Amir Faridz, Taiwan

Amir comes from a background of competitive tennis and shifted his interest to roundnet when he was introduced to the sport in 2018. He is the co-founder of Taiwan Roundnet and one of the founding members of Asia roundnet. Amir also represented Taiwan in the recent world championship in Belgium in 2022.

Maxi Lauber, Germany

During his time at Roundnet Germany, Maximilian “Maxi” Lauber has shown outstanding commitment and passion for the sport and above all for the development and building of professional structures around Roundnet. In the last year he worked on the development of our national roundnet league as the leader of our responsible department for leagues.

Jack Scotti, United States

Jack has been developing the sport of roundnet for over a decade. He worked as VP of Strategy and Sport Development at Spikeball Inc from 2016 to 2023. Before joining the Spikeball team full-time, Jack was involved in the sport as an independent organizer, responsible for the world’s largest and longest running roundnet tournament, Coney Island’s Summer Spike. Jack also served as one of the first regional directors for USA Spikeball and was an original author of the first unified rules of the sport. Prior to working at Spikeball, Jack was COO of a venture backed education technology company, Story2, and as a member of Teach For America taught middle school English in the South Bronx. He lives in New York with his wife, daughter, and son.

Raphael Rosales Silveira , Brazil

Graduated in Computer Engineering and passionate about sports.

He knew and fell in love with Roundnet by chance, but at first he saw the opportunity and applied to become an ambassador in Brazil.  Since the end of 2017 he has been working on structuring and promoting the sport in the country.

The bylaws

These are the governing documents of the International Roundnet Federation. As updates are made, revisions will be posted here.

We put together these bylaws together with our legal team. We used bylaws of already established federations, talked to people who have experience with sports organizations and talked to various NGBs. We compiled this information to a slidedeck containing the core concepts and structures for the IRF, which we presented to all interested NGBs. Based on their feedback and comments, we made the final changes to this document.
